Ancient tombs discovered near Bulebel
The Malta Archaeological Society is calling for the protection of ancient rock-cut tombs recently discovered close to the Bulebel Industrial Estate.
The tombs, located between the industrial estate and Tal-Barrani Road, were discovered during excavation works being carried out in preparation for the building of a private hospital in the area.
MAS reported that the presence of ancient tombs in the area had been recorded during the 1960s, although it noted that additional tombs may have been discovered, along with other archaeological features.
The society called on MEPA, and the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage to take all necessary precautions to guarantee the preservation of the archaeological assets in the site.
