Local international basketball referee, Bernard Vassallo, will be in action - for the fourth time this season - in European competitions, when he will referee 2 official matches in Italy this week.

Vassallo’s first appointment is on November 24 when he will officiate the attractive EuroCup game in Pesaro between the renowned Italian team, Scavolini Pesaro and the Dutch outfit, Amsterdam.

Vassallo was nominated by FIBA to referee this game, to be played in the Adriatic Arena, together with Branislav Mrdak (Serbia) and Igor Poljansek (Slovenia). Croat Boris Lalic will be the FIBA commissioner for the same game.On November 26, Vassallo will officiate, with the same refereeing crew, the interesting women’s Euroleague Group B game in Schio between Famila Schio and the Spaniards Salamanca.

These 2 European appointments come just a fortnight after Vassallo officiated the FIBA Cup game in Switzerland between Sierre and Gyor (Hungary) which ended in a tight 65-61 win for the visitors.
