An entertaining encounter between Qormi and Dingli ended with the former winning by four goals to one to increase their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points.

Dingli Swallows 1 Qormi FC 4

In the first encounter of the eighth round of the Premier League, sole leaders Qormi were looking to increase their lead at the top to five points over their closest rivals.

After 6 minutes, Dingli created their first chance when from a cross by Formosa, Jeremy Agius headed well over from a good position. On 10 minutes, Qormi replied with an insipid cross by Effiong which was missed by Jonathan Bondin from a good position.

On 20 minutes, Qormi had a glorious chance to take the lead when Effiong found himself alone but his shot ended up against the post. On 27 minutes, Qormi took the lead when from a Joseph Farrugia corner ended up at Massimo Grima who slotted home with ease. The rest of the half saw Qormi controlling their lead with Dingli rarely foraging forward.

On 51 minutes, Qormi doubled when Deguara crossed to Camillo da Silva Sanvezzo who made no mistake with a rousing conclusion to put the game to bed for the Canaries. On 61 minutes Qormi could have made it three but Camillo's concludiosn from a Farriugia free kick was blocked off the line by Conceicao.

Dingli looked down and out and created their second chance in the game when Clint Caruana shot over the bar but the keeper looked to have the ball covered. On 68 minutes, Dingli had a great chance to get back in the game when Doda was felled by Doda with the referee pointing to the spot. Substitute Okonkwo made no mistake from the spot coolly slotting home.

The game turned on its axis after the penalty and after 72 minutes, Farrugia passed to Okonkwo who alone in the box blasted into Wellman who miraculously blocked the goal bound effort. However Qormi finally made the result secure when on 76 minutes, Camillo latched on a loose ball, released Effiong who made no mistake concluding in the back of the net with ease.

The match settled down after that goal and just a minute from time, Sanvezzo scored his second personal goal and Qormi's fourth to completely close off the match.
