On Saturday, Krishna took on Melita in the return game at the Safi Barracks ground.

This time Melita won the toss and batted first. Dave Newton and John Grima opened the batting. Newton was first to go being caught for 8 runs. Andy Lenard came in and put on a steady partnership with Grima.

Lenard hit 2 sixes and 2 fours in his innings of 34 runs before being caught. Grima after his great innings last week followed up with 25 runs before being bowled.

Rajesh was LBW for 5 runs, Rishard Rogers for 4 runs and John Rusher for one run. Melita were aided by 16 extras including 11 wides and 2 no balls, in a total of 93 runs.

Tony Slater was the man of the match for Krishna taking 4 wickets for 17 runs from 4 overs bowled. Kevin Krishna took 2 wickets and Nowell Khosla took 1.

The previous weeks’ top scorers for Krishna were both dismissed cheaply. Mike Caruana was brilliantly caught by Dave Newton for one run and Newton again was involved in the dismissal of Darren Grech who scored 3 runs. Nowell Khosla top scored for his side with 25 runs including 2 sixes. Tony Slater made 5 runs.

Will Nichols was run out by a good piece of fielding by Adam Krishna, for 14 runs whilst Kevin Krishna (17 runs not out) and Sarfraz Ali (10 runs not out) made sure it would be 2 wins from 2 games for the Krishna team. The Melita team gave away too many wides, 19 in all which made their work load very hard.

Meanwhile, the Malta Cricket Association recently held a prize-giving ceremony in the presence of KMS chairman Bernard Vassallo. He also presented the awards for both leagues for the best batsmen, Nowell Khosla (Winter) and Joy Ghoseroy (Summer) and best bowlers Nowell Khosla(Winter) and Andy Naudi(Summer).

The evening was made possible thanks to KMS, The Great Dane Restaurant, Club Catering, VJ Salamone and Precision Optical ltd.

Next Saturday the third game of the series will be played at Safi at 1200h. The cricket academy continues at Marsa every Saturday between 0900h and 1030h.
