B'Kara came from a goal down and dominated proceedings in beating Msida SJ by a 4-1 scoreline.

B’Kara 4 Msida SJ 1

Both teams were coming from a win in their last match with B’Kara defeating Sliema whereas Msida obtained their first win in this campaign in their last outing against Dingli.

This was the first Premier League match for Esther Azzopardi and one can conclude that she finished her job with flying colours.

As early as the fourth minute Msida surprisingly forged ahead when it was through a long ball by Adam Spiteri with goalkeeper Mora fumbling the ball with LATTES being spot on to drive the ball home.

The Stripes reacted heavily and on 8 minutes it was Comvalius whose shot was saved by Bartolo.Referee Esther Azzopardi

This was the prelude to the equalizer which materialized two minutes later with CILIA converting a Comvalius cross.

With the score even play was restricted for long stretches to the midfield sector with the Stripes holding the initiative. And it was only near the end of the first half that B’Kara went near to forging ahead.

In the 43rd minute off a Mallia corner from the left Galea’s header ended just over the bar. And in stoppage time a Comvalius effort was partially blocked and from the rebound it was Bajada who saw his shot cleared off the line by Farrugia.

The Saints started the second half on the attack and in the 46th minute a Lattes shot was blocked on the line by Zerafa. And on the other end a Bajada free kick was saved on time by Bartolo.

B’Kara went in the lead for the first time in the match in the 54th minute when following a good run COMVALIUS made his way into the opposing area and converted.

Now in the lead, the Stripes nearly added a third had Fenech’s shot not been palmed out onto a corner by Bartolo.

And in the 75th minute a Bajada shot from the edge of the area was stopped by the upright. And two minutes later off a Comvalius cross from the right a Mallia shot was saved by Bartolo.

The Stripes put the issue beyond doubt twelve minutes from the end when Michael Galea’s cross from the left was perfectly met by GEORGE MALLIA who put the ball in the net.

And in stoppage time it was ANGUS BUHAGIAR who scored another goal for the Stripes to confirm their fine performance.
