EC, the Maltese-owned group of language schools, has acquired a well-established language school in Manhattan, New York.
This is EC’s 8th school, its third in the US. EC’s first steps in the American market came with 2007’s

acquisition in Boston and were soon followed by a San Diego acquisition earlier this year.
The New York school, which will be re-branded as EC New York, will be located on Broadway, just off Times Square, where top New York architects are currently renovating the entire 14th floor of a modern building.
With regards to the latest acquisition, EC’s CEO Andrew Mangion stated: “We are confident that EC New York will become our flagship American school because it’s a top property in a top location. While the international financial crisis has impacted New York, we feel bullish about our prospects in 2009 for the EFL market in New York. The city remains a major destination in which students aspire to live and learn.”
