Summer tourists satisfied with Malta experience
Tourists visiting Malta last summer remained overwhelmingly satisfied with their experience, a survey issued by the Malta Tourism Authority shows.
The MTA’s latest Market Profile survey, sampling 1,764 respondents from a number of European markets, reveals that 86.9 per cent of tourists surveyed during summer 2008 believed that Malta met or exceeded their expectations, compared to 87.6 per cent in the previous summer. Moreover, 87.7 per cent said they would recommend Malta to others, a slight drop from the 89.2 per cent who said so in 2007.
Around 68.7 per cent of tourists surveyed in 2008 also said that they intended to visit again, with over half stating that they would return to Malta within 2 years.
Tourists were also highly satisfied with the hospitality of the Maltese, with 9 out of 10 rating the local community’s friendliness as good or very good in a 5-point scale.
However, the country’s infrastructure left much to be desired, with the majority of tourists expressing their dissatisfaction with roads, traffic, public conveniences and cleanliness. In addition, around 52.1 per cent had an unfavourable opinion of local beaches.
