Curia announces Papal Visit theme, competitions
A verse from the Bible, Acts 27:26 (however, we must be cast on a certain island), is the theme chosen for the Papal visit in Malta, which will take place on April 17 and 18 next year, the Curia said on Friday.
The theme was chosen because it showed that God had willed St Paul to stop in Malta while on the way to Rome.
In preparation for Pope Benedict XVII’s visit, the Curia is announcing a public competition for a logo to be used in the visit. Interested parties are to submit their logo on an A4 sheet, in colour and in monochrome, as well as on a CD including the logo in PSD and vector format. Submissions have to be made by December 16, and should be submitted to the organising committee at the Archbishop’s Curia, Floriana.
The organising committee is also seeking choir masters to form, prepare and lead 2 choirs to sing during the papal visit, one during the Pope’s visit to St Paul’s Grotto in Rabat and another during the mass at the Floriana granaries. No honorarium is to be paid out.
Choir masters are to indicate their preference – no one will be chosen to lead the 2 occasions – and submit scores and recordings by December 7.
