Ramblers outraged at ODZ development

The construction of a winery on pristine land in the outskirts of Rabat has drawn the ire of the Ramblers Association, which described it as “an example of the constructions that MEPA are allowing on pristine countryside”.

The development is taking place in what was completely virgin land in an ODZ area at Tas-Salib, Rabat, and was approved by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority in March 2008.

The orthographic photograph attached to the application shows the land’s pristine status prior to construction.

Rather than complain, The Ramblers should encourage and support the winery project! There is enough space for them to ramble. Built with taste, a winery close to the vineyards would enhance the area.

In fact I suggest the ramblers cross over to Sicily, (viz. Scilio), or even further accross Europe, for them to see what similar projects and Agro Tourisim is all about. In this case, construction of a winery outside the development zone is justified and hereby supported! Let's open our minds on this. Prosit & cheers.
