This year’s race looks to be an unpredictable affair in both the Men’s and Women’s Categories. Last year’s Champion, Dermot Galea, is finding stiff competition from his younger brother, Keith, who, fresh from some very positive results in the UK and Belgium, looks set to usurp the crown which has eluded him for the past few years. The two siblings, however, have not raced against each other since last July and the outcome could very well go in favour of the more experienced of the two.
In the Women’s Category, Danica Spiteri and Michelle Wood, the stars of the Triathlon contingent in the recently held Mediterranean (Sicily-Malta) Friendship Games in Marsala, will renew battle and the result is anybody’s guess. On paper, Wood has the edge of the current Champion but, again, experience could tip the scales in favour of Spiteri.
The Malta Triathlon Association will be assisted by Joseph F. Spiteri & Co (1927) Ltd, local agents for Kee Klamps, and by the B’Kara St Joseph Sports Club. The Association would also like to thank the Malta Tourism Authority, The Plum Tree Restaurant, Qawra, and Kristal Water.
