Looking back at 2013

Time fly’s, no matter if you try your utmost to fill your day with interesting activities or if you passively pass each day, there will come a time when you realize that time has gone by so quickly. Considering that tomorrow we will be celebrating the last day of 2013 already is one of those times in which makes one wonder what happened during the last 12 months.

I can write a whole book about all the activities that happened in 2013 however I am sure that I will have plenty of times in the future to rekindle the memories of 2013. I am going to dedicate today’s article on 2 different subjects.

Yesterday a good friend of mine updated his facebook status like this, and I quote: “New year resolutions are just an excuse to waste some more time before doing something you should have done as soon as you decided it was worth doing.” I have to say that I agree with his reasoning. In the end of the day, what’s so different about a new year? If you truly believe that something is worth doing, why do you have to wait for a new one to begin? If you have thought long and hard about a new resolution, why do you have to postpone it to the first of January? When you decide you want to do something, don’t wait, you will only risk losing the appetite for it, when you get the urge for something good, just do it!

The second thought I want to share with you today is something that I hold close to my heart. As I mentioned above, if you believe in something you should go for it and do it, when it comes to spending time with your loved ones; it is something that I have always tried to do. At the moment I am blessed that I am spending these last few days of 2013 in a cozy farmhouse in Gozo surrounded by a few people whom I hold very close to my heart. This morning as I was sipping my coffee surrounded by the whole group, one of my closest friends suggested that I should write about the warm loving feeling that is felt when you’re surrounded by your loved ones. There are many joys in life however spending as much time with those people that you love will always remain the most important thing. Sometimes it is more difficult due to complicated work schedules, deadlines, meetings, targets or some other event. I honestly hope that moving forward we’ll all try our best to spend a little more time with those that we love the most.

May I also take this opportunity to wish you all the best for 2014, may your dreams be one step closer whilst your troubles like my favorite grandma’s teeth…. Few and far in-between!
