Bank of Valletta has been named the Best Bank in Malta for 2014 by Global Finance.

“Winning this prestigious title gives us great satisfaction,” said Mr Charles Borg, CEO Bank of Valletta, emphasising that the award is a vote of confidence in the employees of the Bank. “It shows that we employ an excellent team that is dedicated, efficient and that can step up to the challenge of competition,” said the Bank’s CEO. “It is with pleasure that we note that the Bank’s continuous efforts to provide a first class service to its customers, both through traditional as well as new alternative delivery channels using the latest technology are being acknowledged even on an international level,” concluded the Bank’s CEO.

The accolade of “Best Bank” is awarded by Global Finance’s editors after extensive consultations with corporate financial executives, bankers and analysts throughout the world. The award is based on performance over the past year and other subjective criteria such as management excellence. Factors considered included growth in assets, profitability, strategic relationships, customer service, competitive pricing and innovative products.

Commenting on the results that have seen Bank of Valletta win, once again, the Best Bank Award for Malta, Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and president of Global Finance said, “The banks that Global Finance is honouring set themselves apart by anticipating and responding to the specific needs of their customers, which vary greatly from country to country and region to region”.  “With the recovery from the financial crisis moving along slowly, these banks have performed the best under very difficult conditions”, he added.

The Best Bank Award adds on to other prestigious achievements that BOV has registered in the past months, which included winning, for the second year in a row, the Best Trade Finance Bank 2014 for Malta by Global Finance.
