Positive session on the Malta Stock Exchange

The Malta Stock Exchange had a positive session as the index registered an increase of 0.77% with five out of the eleven active equity registering gains.

Major Banks moved higher with HSBC and BOV gaining 1.81% and 0.62% respectively.  A total of 41,227 shares were negotiated across 29 trades.

Crimsonwing placed as the best performer of the day on the first trading session of the year as the equity registered an increase of 10.20% to close at a 53-month high of €0.54.

RS2 also moved higher gaining 1.35% on a turnover of 14,557 shares to close at a multi-year high of €0.75 with outstanding bids now at €0.76.

A single deal of 50 shares was executed in Middlesea Insurance pushing the equity 1.35% higher to hit a 10-week high of €0.75.

GO hit a 24-week high of €1.20 during the session to return back to the €1.19 level by session close.

Malita Investments continued to trade at its IPO price of €0.50 and Simonds Farsons Cisk retained its multi-year high of €2.50.

Lombard Bank, 6pm Holdings and MaltaPost were the only other active equities for the day with all share prices closing unchanged.
