WasteServ awards waste minimisation
WasteServ Malta and the Cleaner Technology Centre (CTC) have presented the Waste Minimisation Awards for this year, during the second edition of these awards.
Salon Services Limited won Category A for Commercial Entities; EkoSkola, which is run by Nature Trust won Category B for NGOs and other Non-Commercial Entities; while St Francis Primary School, Cospicua was awarded Category C for Educational Bodies.
The Waste Minimisation Awards aim to reward the most inspiring and best practice measures in waste reduction. Applications were open to profit and non-profit entities as well as individuals and participants were grouped into three categories, namely, Commercial enterprises; NGOs and other non-commercial entities (including individuals) and educational bodies. The applicants were judged on their individual merit and the measures taken to reduce waste, any cost savings or benefits arising from reducing waste and measures taken to educate their employees or the general public about waste reduction.
Director of the Institute of Sustainable Development at the University of Malta Maria Attard and representatives from various environment-related entities, including senior and renowned professionals in the field judged the awards.
