An interactive financial knowledge centre
Blackdigits.com.mt, an interactive financial knowledge and data centre aimed at facilitating investment decisions by allowing users to efficiently analyse and compare financial data, was officially launched this morning by Minister of Finance, the Economy and Investment Tonio Fenech.
The site has already gained a substantial amount of followers and now introduces a social aspect by allowing users to discuss a particular listed company or its financial statements.
“Our mission is to set up a forum for market followers and investors because such a community is lacking in Malta. Every day we use online forums and community-based websites such as Wikipedia and we believe this website will add value to the Maltese investor community” says Chris Grech, one of the co-founders of the site.
Blackdigits.com.mt also launched the first Android app dedicated to the Maltese listed market. The app provides live share and corporate bond prices and a list of company announcements. The app is downloadable from Google Play. “The market suffers from an information gap and we are committed to continuously enhance the website in order to continue closing this gap” says Calvin Bartolo, the other co-founder of the project. The other co-founder is Calvin Bartolo.
Access to all information in the website and the app are completely free. Blackdigits.com.mt is partly financed through the ERDF under Operational Programme 1.
Presently Malta has 113 investment services companies, 70% of which were registered in the past four years. These companies employ more than 12,000 persons.
