Renzo Spiteri explores new musical boundaries
Maltese percussionist, composer and producer Renzo Spiteri returns to the local stage with an intimate solo performance in the courtyard of the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Investment on South Street in Valletta on Saturday, September 29 at 19.30h, with a repeat performance at 20.30h. Admission to the performances is free of charge.
Renowned for his passion for creating innovative and artistically diverse projects, Mr Spiteri’s Solo Works Project is best described as "art music" with rich and deeply expressive melodies and a skilful blend of traditional sounds, conventional instruments and live electronic sound manipulation. The concert will feature new works that were recently premiered during his stay in The Hague in collaboration with The Royal Conservatoire of Music of The Hague and Den Haag 2018. Mr Spiteri will also present selected pieces from his critically acclaimed concept album "Silence Sounds and Spaces", and the music will be complemented with live visuals by Winston De Giorgio from Live Grafix.
Described by reviews as “an artiste who constantly surprises”, Renzo Spiteri’s artistic versatility and passion for the creative use of sound have over the years allowed him to develop fresh musical possibilities and unlimited modes of expression. He performs across a wide range of musical styles, from collaborative projects that undertake to bring together a wide range of musicians, to solo works where there is a spirit of enquiry. Mr Spiteri’s artistic sensitivity and penchant for non-traditional approaches to composition have resulted in inspiring and dynamic performances.
