8,200 voting documents remain uncollected
A total of 8,200 voting documents remain uncollected for the general election that will be held on Saturday, the electoral commission said this morning.
Tomorrow, Thursday, at midnight is the deadline by which undelivered and uncollected voting documents can be retrieved from the electoral commission.
For the 2013 election, 29,000 new eligible voters were added to the electoral register. Out of these, 2,000 people turned 18 after the last electoral register was published in October 2012 but will be able to vote on Saturday.
Political clubs within 50 metres of polling stations have to remain closed on Saturday, voting day. All other entities can operate as usual.
For the local council elections, 18,300 voting documents remain uncollected including 14,000 documents of European non-Maltese. Thus, 4,000 Maltese have not collected their local council voting document.
Asked to compare the amount of uncollected voting documents with previous elections, the electoral commission said that this time very few documents remain uncollected when compared to past elections.
