AD demands justice after 40 years
40 years after the termination of their employment, ex-employees of the Malta Electricity Board still require social justice as their pensions were still not issued, AD spokesperson for Social Policy and Civil Rights Angele Deguara argued this morning.
Ms Deguara held that according to two cabinet decisions and a subsequent circular issued by the Board of Directors, these workers were identical to government employees and are entitled to the same rights and pension conditions, yet despite this ruling they were never given their due pension.
She held that their rights have been ignored by six Prime Ministers and quoted a recent court ruling which admitted that these pensioners were entitled to their pension, as were other government employees.
AD Chairperson Michael Briguglio, held that if in parliament, AD will ensure that pensioners who were due their pensions of which they were being deprived of, will be compensated.
