AD - Neither party agreed to Maltese voting abroad
AD had insisted over the years on the need for Maltese living to have the right to vote in their country of residence but notwithstanding the various amendments to electoral legislation, neither of the political parties agreed with AD on the this issue, AD spokesman on EU and international affairs Arnold Cassola said.
The AD spokesperson continued that Maltese living abroad should be given a reasonable amount of time to secure their fundamental right to vote by registering at an embassy or consulate to be able to vote at the upcoming national elections.
In order to allow time for the ballot boxes abroad to arrive to the counting hall in Malta, Maltese nationals abroad should be able to cast their vote at embassies over a span of three days in early March, in the presence of officially delegated Maltese diplomats.
