AD will be the voice of social justice
In parliament, the Alternattiva Demokratika (AD) will be the voice for social justice, AD Chairperson Michael Briguglio said in front of Parliament.
AD will propose an increase in the minimum wage and a drive for decent jobs rather than precarious work. Dr Briguglio said that he will propose real rights for persons with disability, including an increase in the disability pension and true accessibility. “We will propose sustainable and decent pensions, and justice for pensioners who are being robbed of their full pension. Examples of these include ex-British Services pensioners, ex-Barclays and ex-Electricity Board pensioners”. He spoke about Inclusive education, the defence of public services and the welfare state, adding that they will also be a top green priority, so as to ensure that poverty does not increase. He also proposed concrete measures to bring down the prices of medicines.
AD candidate Silvan Agius said; "In this campaign AD has proved its credentials on social policy, which is both in touch with the needs of the people and also forward thinking drawing long term solutions based on tried and tested policies that give results”. He pledged that the AD won’t pay lip service to social justice, arguing that they have stood up for the rights of those who have experienced hardship because of the precarious nature of their jobs, and those people whose rights are not yet respected."
Michael Briguglio concluded that with 2,000 votes in a district, AD will be in Parliament.
