Comino is the prime site earmarked to be turned into a nudist beach after the ‘perfect site next to Delimara’ was used as the site to build a power station on, Alleanza Liberali leader John Zammit told di-ve.com

Mr Zammit continued explaining that nudist beaches in Malta and Gozo should increase and this is one of the main points of the party’s electoral programme. John Zammit added that during the British reign he had swam nude many times next to the Freeport.

The Liberal party closely follows in the steps of its European counterpart the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in the European Parliament and embraces the same beliefs regarding brothels and adult venues which the Party’s manifesto read will be legalized and regulated.

John Zammit also proposed a legalisation in favour of abortion, arguing that, like many other countries, this would be limited to pregnancies of up to 24 weeks. “I’m also pro-gay marriage,” he stated, insisting that there should not be any discrimination against LGBT in Malta. He emphasised that he is constantly in contact with a number of important liberals across the EU, including Nick Clegg from the UK. “Malta must become like northern EU countries, where the people are forward thinking and do not discriminate. Malta is still quite backward in this respect”.

Asked about the issue of immigration John Zammit explained that Malta is overflowing with illegal immigrants and that the EU must help share the burden.

Another issue Mr Zammit discussed with di-ve.com was the job sector. The pension age should be driven back to 61 and pensioners would be encouraged not to work, which would allow Malta’s youth to take their place, “Young people have more energy and pensioners should be allowed to enjoy their retirement, not be forced to continue working” he stated.

The Party’s manifesto also pledges to decriminalise Cannabis and the abolition of any legal sieve that stops magazines, books DVD’s and cinema from entering the country.

John Zammit is contesting the 2nd and 6th Districts under the umbrella of Alleanza Liberali.
