Franco Debono contemplating new political party
Nationalist MP Franco Debono has revealed that in the coming days he will announce whether or not he will contest the general election under the banner of a new party.
Asked details about the possibility of contesting the coming elections by forming a party, Dr Debono replied, “I said what I wanted to say in my blog”. Franco Debono published in his blog post yesterday that he is considering contesting the election under a new party, possibly called 'the People’s Party’, but will reach a clear and final decision in the coming days.
“I had made all necessary preparations to go and chase my dream to work in Italy, but following a debate on local media, the people reached out to me in such a strong way that I had to change plans,” Dr Debono told di-ve.com.
In a comment Dr Debono gave to di-ve.com this morning, he said that in his life he had three dreams. To be a criminal defence lawyer, to be a Member of Parliament and to work in Italy. “The first two I have already achieved, although in each case I had to start from scratch. Nothing came easy, but I always made an effort to make my dreams a reality,” Dr Debono said.
The MP explained that people have had enough of the arrogance the country is governed with, including cases of TV presenters with a clear bias on public television. “Peppi Azzopardi is the person who advised Lawrence Gonzi in difficult times. He was also one of the people involved in a reconciliation attempt between myself and the PN. The bias of such individuals is clearly known,” Dr Debono added.
