Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando will remain Chairman of the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) should Labour be elected, Joseph Muscat said this afternoon.

The Science and Technology sector should not be politicised, Dr Muscat explained whilst touring the MCST, adding that continuity would help better operations. He explained that a new Government would strengthen Malta’s patent system and would provide financial incentives for business groups.

Dr Pullicino Orlando argued that the MCST staff had increased over the past few years and is particularly looking forward to the interactive science centre.

Research engineer Nicholas Sammut gave a presentation on MCST as well as the projects it currently undertakes, stating that there is still room to gain further EU funding.
