More airlines need to fly to Malta - Joseph Muscat
A diversification in programmes and schemes is needed to attract more airlines to fly to Malta, PL Leader Joseph Muscat announced whilst visiting the Malta International Airport (MIA) this morning.
Dr Muscat spoke of the important role the airport has played in Malta’s tourism success and also emphasised the importance of Air Malta. He mentioned the role of low cost airlines in bringing further tourists to the island due to cheaper rates.
Deputy CEO of MIA Austin Calleja said that the recession has hit the rest of Europe hard, explaining that this affects tourism.
