More educational sector proposals by PL
A fully-paid one year sabbatical is being pledged by PL to all teachers who want to further their studies, Dr Muscat said this morning.
Safety and security at schools needed to be seriously looked into and violence against teaching staff needs to be addressed, and an information campaign promoting respect towards the teachers will be launched, Joseph Muscat said.
All proposals the PL is putting forward will be discussed with the Malta Union of Teachers prior to being implemented, Dr Muscat explained, continuing that one of the main issues would be the creating of a system enabling teachers to move between state, private and church schools without losing salary advancement.
If elected in parliament, a PL government will hold an annual national conference for all teaching grades would also be held to discuss the educational sector, particularly a new minimum national curriculum.
