The Church Environment Commission statement that encouraged the separation of the environment from MEPA was welcomed by PL Leader Joseph Muscat, whilst visiting contractor Paul Mangion in his home in Swatar.

The Labour proposal would see the planning and environmental sections in MEPA split in order to reduce bureaucracy and increase planning permit speed.

Through the PL proposal, a member from the Environmental NGOs would be elected to the planning board, he explained, adding that this would give a voice to the environmentalists.
