Environment NGOs Din L-Art Helwa, Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar, Nature Trust (Malta), Ramblers Association and Friends of the Earth (Malta), Birdlife Malta and Gaia Foundation have expressed their serious concern at the way that environment issues are being used “as vote-catching pawns”. 

“The way the main parties are turning the election campaign into a boxing match is most inappropriate. It is also deplorable that proposed changes to environment policies are bandied about superficially and obscurely,” they said.

Consequently, the NGOs stated that they are not satisfied with the “inadequate statements” proposed by the political parties on various issues.
