The rights of children in Malta have been found lacking, the Labour Party have announced.

Referring to the international Convention on Childrens Rights, PL candidate Justyne Caruana stated that Malta had signed the agreement over a year ago, however added that a recent report by the Committee for the Monitoring of Signatory States found that Malta is lagging behind. The Government has yet to begin the legal procedure to integrate this convention with Maltese laws, the candidate said.

The PL argued that children cannot be heard in court regarding decisions which would affect them and their lives until this is implemented. Children are being bounced back and forth like a ball, the party announced.
