PL candidates Dr Emmanuel Mallia and Dr David Farrugia, this morning called a press conference to counter to allegations made by Minister Tonio Fenech, at PL headquarters in Hamrun.

Dr Mallia spoke about the issue regarding Minister Tonio Fenech taking a Maltese clock as a gift while he was appointed Minister.

Emmanuel Mallia stated that Minister Tonio Fenech is trying to create confusion among the people and assured that the first time he saw the allegations regarding the irregular buying of oil was when they were published in the newspapers. He claimed that even though he was at the moment acting as a politician his true profession is that of a lawyer which he has been performing for 38 years.

Dr Mallia stated and quoted legal documents from September 2010 regarding the issue that shows that his company was appointed as legal councillors and advisors against George Farrugia for Power Plant Ltd. This shows that he was not in fact the lawyer for the audit firm as accused, spoke PL Mallia.

Minister Fenech falsely accused him of misappropriation of funds against company and other related matters and will put forward a formal complaint to the Police Commissioner asking for imprisonment claimed PL Emmanuel Mallia while assuring that he had always followed the professional secrecy act and never gave information to the PL Leader on any issue.

Dr David Farrugia addressed the journalist where he reminded them that he had categorically rebuked all accusations put forward by Minister Austin Gatt that he was being framed. He explained that the audit reports quoted where divided in a financial report and an IT audit report and that neither he nor his brother were involved in any of these reports. Dr Farrugia admitted that his brother was consulted by the IT expert regarding how to create the report to present in Court but that the actual report was created by the IT expert.

Minister Tonio Fenech had every right to quote the investigative audit issued by the company but then proceeded to unjustly accuse him of being a liar stated Dr Farrugia. He concluded that neither he nor Dr Mallia have ever given any information to the PL Leader as they are bound by the professional secrecy act.

PL will reply to accusations made and will follow through against any allegation but will remain positive and untainted in its politics during the last weeks of the campaign conclude Kurt Farrugia.
