Updated: PL believes in a clean and unpolluted campaign – Joseph Muscat
PL has kicked off their Mqabba Mass Meeting, amongst a huge crowd of people all proudly baring their colours with flags and banners cramming the streets.
Former Malta Union of Teachers President John Bencini and PL Leader Joseph Muscat are to address the crowd.
“I don’t want to be just a spectator but I want to be a protagonist of the PL movement” said Mr Bencini.
Mr Bencini stated that he wants to see a ‘good governance’ Government which is responsible and accountable for its actions. Meritocracy is what people really want from their Government where hard work and people with the adequate qualifications are rewarded and given their rightful compensation.
A Prime Minister who works hard for the people and doesn’t defend gangs that take advantage of their power is who should govern this country said Mr Bencini. He admitted that he admires PL Leader Joseph Muscat when he says that people should look towards the future that will unite us and not the past that can divide us.
John Bencini stated that PL is ready to build upon that which is already good in this country and change where there is a need for a change. He concluded that you may not agree with what PL is saying but you can work together with the movement to have a better future.
PL Leader Joseph Muscat also addressed the crowd gathered by first taking up the negative issues that have been brought up lately. PL believes in a positive and unpolluted campaign and will not stoop to PN’s level of negativity.
PL is serene in its politics because it has concrete proposals that can be effected if elected while PN has to be negative since they have nothing else to turn to, said Dr Muscat.
Joseph Muscat stated that he is not being dishonest with people since it is not the politics that he believes in. The claims that PL has made have been proven right time and time again and the Government has had to amend the law to cover up its mistakes, he continued.
Dr Muscat addressed the€500 wage increase that PN had introduced, whilst remind people that PL stood its ground and supported Maltese families, showing people that PL is not with the people just during election time but through the whole five years. He stated that when entering politics he did not do this for the financial benefits but to be part of a change.
“I will give all for this country and together with my family we have decided to put our country first” said PL Leader.
PL is working towards giving the best possible future and opportunities for future generations. PL Leader promised that PL will work towards improving work conditions for soldiers and Police and will work towards a united country, free from corruption.
Dr Muscat spoke about the statements issued by the European Commission that disagree with the predictions made by PN which are not realistic in their expectations for economical growth. He said that people have a choice to make between those who give false statements and those whose proposals are based on international studies.
PL is for creating more quality jobs in the country that allows more flexibility and which can help families to move forward and improve their quality of life. He stated that PL doesn’t want to people by their faces but by their capabilities for a country where not who you know counts but what you know.
PL Leader thanked from MCAST, Higher and University for their continued support throughout the campaign. He asserted that youths deserve a Government that is open to listen to what they have to say and that PL will always voice their needs.
Work, family rights, youth voices, responsible and clean politics, a positive attitude and optimistic politics are for us all, concluded PL Leader Joseph Muscat.
