Politicians who can possibly be implicated in a scandal should not be allowed to decide on who gets a pardon to turnover evidence in that same case, Joseph Muscat said at a political activity in Iklin, referring to the oil procurement case.

Dr Muscat reiterated his emphasis on the country’s need for a Whistle Blowers Act. He pledged that a PL Government would introduce this Act quickly, and would also remove time-barring on corruption cases and introduce a party financing law.

Speaking on the Party’s MEPA proposals, Joseph Muscat said he could not understand why Dr Gonzi is criticising the PL, arguing that the Church’s environment groups have backed the proposal. He asked if Dr Gonzi would now accuse the Church of being involved with contractors. Further criticising the PN, Dr Muscat spoke of the PN’s health proposals, arguing that patients who would need to buy medicine from private pharmacies would have to pay part of the price.
