First Paul Mitchell signature salon hits the island
The 10-year long dream of Dutch hairdresser Mirko Donk turned into reality last Saturday with the opening of the HeadKandi Salon in Birkirkara, the first Paul Mitchell signature salon on the island.
Being a signature salon denotes not only that it is an exclusive Paul Mitchell salon but also guarantees the clients the best in products as well as the highest level of customer relations and satisfaction, Mr Donk told di-ve at the opening.
HeadKandi is a unisex salon offering a full range of products, aimed at working around what people do not want and presenting them with a range of alternatives. The colouring products used have a low ammonia policy which offers additional care of the hair during the colour treatment. On the other hand, this signature salon portrays itself as being a barber that masters the use of scissors, giving men more than a clipper cut.
“As we all know, style is not born but groomed,” Mr Donk said.
At the age of 17, Mirko Donk started hairdressing in the salon in his home in The Netherlands and later became a guest examiner for a school of hairdressing and a team member of the brand Matrix, allowing him to specialise in hair colouring. After five years, he opened his own salon in Arnhem but remained involved in the education part of the salon, becoming Director of Education for Farouk Systems in the Netherlands, and later Director for Education in Europe, teaching hairdressers from Moscow to London and everywhere in between.
