Birkirkara FC to host round of UEFA Women's Champions League in Malta
Birkirkara FC won the bid to host the qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League in Malta. This is the first time that the competition will be held in Malta. The tournament will take place between August 11 and 16.
Birkirkara FC was drawn in Group 3, together with SU 1° Dezembro of Portugal, Glentoran Belfast of Northern Ireland and Olimpia Cluj-Napoca of Romania.
SU 1° Dezembro and Glentoran Belfast will kick off the mini tournament on Saturday, August 11 at 17.30h. Birkirkara will be involved in their first match in the second match of the day against Olimpia Cluj-Napoca and the match will kick off at 20.00h.
Monday, August 13 will see Birkirkara facing SU 1° Dezembro in the first match of the day, which will kick off at 17.30h. Then, Olimpia Cluj-Napoca and Glentoran Belfast will cross swords at 20.00h.
The third and final day will be played on Thursday, August16, with the first match pitting Olimpia Cluj-Napoca against SU 1° Dezembro and kicking off at 17.00h. Birkirkara will play their third match on Thursday, August 16 against Glentoran Belfast and the match will also start at 17.00h.
All matches will be played at the Centenary Stadium with the only exception being the match between Olimpia Cluj-Napoca against SU 1° Dezembro to be played on Thursday, August 16 as it will be played at the National Stadium.
Entrance to these matches will be free. However, on entrance, donations will be collected for the Community Chest Fund.
