Baroque Love for The Beatles
The Beatles will be featured once more within a classical music context when tomorrow, Thursday February 14th and Friday February 15th, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing The Beatles Go Baroque at The Robert Sammut Hall, ex-Methodist Church at Floriana.
This is not the first time that The Beatles’ music has been given a classical music setting in Malta. This time, eminent British conductor Philip Walsh returns to the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra with a special, novel programme suited for St. Valentine’s Day. The repertoire will feature Hey Jude, A Hard Day’s Night, And I Love Her and Yellow Submarine, among others.
During this performance, Philip Walsh will be conducting from the harpsichord, and Rebecca Farrugia Hall, MPO's principal flautist, will feature as the concertino in The Concerto Grosso after Bach, and MPO leader Marcelline Agius features as the concertino is the Concerto Grosso after Vivaldi.
This event commences at 19.30 hours and tickets are available from St. James Cavalier, Valletta, Tel: 2122320, or online: firstname.lastname@example.org
