There are many things we do to make our Valentine’s Day a special one - dinners, movies, presents, flowers; but what if this year you went away for a weekend?

Be it that they speak the language of love, or that their world-famous bread is a phallic symbol, or maybe because of the connotations associated with it, but once you overlook the stench of its underground system, there are few places in the world that are as romantic as Paris. Flights to Paris from MIA are as regular as Charlie Sheen’s mood swings, and with a bit of research you can be sure to find some cheap accommodation in one of the world’s capitals of fashion and lurve. Vive la France!

Pasta, pizza, and lots of dark corners for naughty deeds! Italy will always be a favourite destination for any holidaymaker. Think of those romantic dinners in some forsaken trattoria, those long walks amidst streets dripping with world-famous architecture, and all those beautiful things that have made Italy a cultural superpower. Book a weekend away to the cradle of the Renaissance, Florence, and reinvent your love story! Create memories, build upon your rapport amidst bare breasts and the world’s most famous penis - well, once removed after the one in Luqa, of course!

Love is an adventure, and it beckons to be explored - and so is Tunisia! Just 45 minutes away by plane it is a wonder how different Tunisia is from our little safe haven. The sand, the crystal clear sea, the architecture, make Tunisia an unmissable experience. Saying that, a stroll down some of Port el Kantaoui’s traditional markets is one of the most romantic things ever. It is a not a cliché but a classic! One tip though: take it easy on the PDA!

Staying is Going

If jetsetting is not your style, fret not, my friends, we are lucky enough to have some pretty romantic places in our midst - gorillas in the mist - that was random, sorry! Why not spend a couple of nights in one of the lovely hotels in Mdina or Valletta? There is more to our old and new capitals than meets the eye! When the hustle and bustle of the morning crowds ebb away into the twilight of the late-afternoon, these cities become playgrounds for lovers. Midnight walks on the bastions, amazing restaurants off the main roads that are more authentically Maltese than Freddie Portelli, and just pure old-time romance drifting through the air simply waiting to be tapped into.
