There’s plenty of live music available for those venturing out this weekend. Eric Montfort gives us the low down on who is appearing where.

Multi-national Classic Rock at Sliema

Noise Pickle are a trio featuring a Swede, a Maltese and a Serbian, who were united by their love for classic rock music. Guitarist Sven, bassist Bob and drummer Conrad have been around gigging for these past few months and their shows have gone down really well. Most of their songs are cover versions of classics like Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama, and Steppenwolf’s Born To Be Wild.

They will be performing at the Black Gold Pub, The Strand Sliema tomorrow, Saturday, February 16th from 10pm onwards. More information can be obtained through

DumTak at The Coach and Horses

DumTak is a three piece band consisting of Gabriel Schembri on guitar, Joe Mallia on violin/viola and Bernard Schembri on percussions.  They have been quite active last year, having participated at Worldfest, and collaborated with Cora Turner, a Maltese dancer and performer, now based in Nuremburg, Germany. The band are known for their love of Middle Eastern music.

They will be performing a two hour set at The Coach and Horses, Msida, tomorrow, Saturday 16th February, at 9.30pm. The trio will be playing their own takes from the strangest of sources, from Metallica, to David Guetta, from pop music to folk, from jazz to soundtracks, as well as their own songs.

The Return of Milk Mi

After a long hibernation of nearly 3 years since the launching of their debut single Black Sheep, Milk Mi are now back in action. The four band members Ian Paul (drums), Maria Launa (voc), Francesco (bass) and lead guitarist Chris, are currently getting the band on track again.

These four creative minds, who come from diverse musical backgrounds, rolled their sleeves up and started pooling new ideas and kneading them into new material that will soon hit the recording room and a new EP is expected next summer.

They will be performing an experimental set at Rookies, Bugibba, tomorrow, Saturday February 16th, at 9.30pm.
