Star Wars Day 2014 – May the fourth be with you
Star Wars Day is an unofficial holiday in May which celebrates one of the biggest pop culture phenomenon ever, Star Wars created by George Lucas.
The fourth of May was chosen as the unofficial ‘Star Wars Day’ holiday date because, May the fourth sounds strikingly close to the series popular phrase, “May the Force be with you” which Star Wars fans have now adapted to, “May the fourth be with you.”
The line "May the Force be with you," is spoken several times in the films by members of the rebel alliance (good guys) before they embark on a mission against the evil Empire.
This May 4, will find fans all over the world celebrating the iconic films culture by immersing themselves in full makeup and costumes, movie marathons, fan events, and sometimes a language all of their own.
This year’s Star Wars Day celebration also has an extra special buzz in the air, since the Star Wars team has just announced the cast for the new, upcoming instalment of Star Wars: Episode VII, which includes original Star Wars casts members, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. Shooting begins in a couple of months and the movie is scheduled to open worldwide on December 18 2015.
