Top 5...Spring Styles
As the bleak winter months come to an end and spring fashions are eagerly waiting to blossom, IGGY FENECH scours the season’s top trends to bring you the top five items you should look out for.
Rock the Metallica: We’ve seen it before and we’ll see it again - metal mania is here to stay. Diamond whites, raging reds, sapphire blues and emerald greens have gone viral, and as Burberry showed us, they can easily be worn in the daytime as well - in fact, the more vibrant the better! Metal accessories have also gone through the roof, be it futuristic belts or classic handbags.
Psychedelically Cray-Cray: When Prada unveiled their patterned winter collection last season the whole world stopped in its tracks - it was insane and it was in. Now, the patterns have gone psychedelic. Acid greens, neon yellows and deep purples - they’re hipster, they’re rave party, they are everything smudged into one; and in our opinion, House of Holland have been amazing at it!
Black & White: Neither colour can ever really go out of fashion, but this season black and white stripes, checkers and colour blocks are the shiz. Suit jackets, maxi dresses, shoes, bags - they’ve all got the black&white treatment, but for such a simple pattern you must be one bold nut to wear them! Check out Louis Vuitton’s take on the trend.
Bikermania: Reminiscent of Lady Gaga’s Born this Way theme, the biker and bomber jackets are back in business. They give an edge to any feminine look and can be worn anywhere - even to the beach! Both Stella McCartney and Vesus have come up with some gorgeous examples, but check out how SJP wore hers!
Flora and Fauna: From snakeskin to floral patterns, nature is undoubtedly one of this season’s stars. Dior’s skirts and Erdem’s trousers were dripping in flowers, while animal motifs were used by many a designer. It’s not a general rule, but it seems that most seem united in the belief that one pattern should take on the whole outfit.
