What the Funk! 3 - Live 70’s Music Concert In Aid of Puttinu Cares
70’s Music may not be the most stylish thing right now, though it has influenced quite a few talents over the years, but it can still make people move and dance, pleasing the over 40s through a nostalgic trip and hitting on the younger generation with those very particular groovy beats and rhythms.
The music stars from that era, like, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Chic, Jimmy Hendrix , BeeGees, Donna Summer and many others are still very relevant in today’s music scene and recent bands like Jamiroquai, Red hot Chilli Peppers and Maroon 5 mix their influences from the 70’s disco and funk with modern sounds to produce some amazing hits.
What the Funk! 3, the live 70’s music concert on Saturday 6th April at Buskett, shall feature some of the best hits from that era and some other, more recent hits which come from that music genre and retain the same rhythm punch and groove, making it an event not to be missed by people from all age groups. This is actually the third concert from the What the Funk! series. The other two concerts featured some of the best local talents who interpreted, in their own particular styles, some disco and funky hits to the satisfaction of the present numerous crowd, dancing their night away and having a memorable evening.
What the Funk! 3 shall also feature singers and musicians from some of the best bands like, Tribali, Red Electric, 26 Other Worlds, Big Band Brothers, Fakawi, Beige, Troffa Hamra and Strummin' amongst others and solo musicians like Adrian Brincat Ir-Russu, Mario Borg, Simon Sammut, Charles Cassar and Jonathan Abela and singers Nadine Axisa, Glen Vella and Cheryl Camilleri. Dj’s Joseph Axiak and Alex Grech shall be spinning some Disco/Funk Vinyl before and after the concert, PJ Xerxen shall be hosting the show. Although this concert, and retro costume party, is aimed to cheer and to entertain the crowd it is also aimed to raise funds for Puttinu Cares, who as many people know, is helping many children in need of cancer related therapies in the UK, who would otherwise have to fork out a fortune in accommodation and travelling expenses.
In other few words, The What the Funk! 3 team’s aim is to produce some good live, funky disco music in a retro party atmosphere, get the crowd to dance their hearts out but finally and most importantly, donate the proceeds to help Puttinu Cares and all those suffering - all of this through enjoying onself through such activities.
