GlobalCapital plc goes pink
GlobalCapital plc has joined supporters in offices, schools, universities and homes in putting on pink to raise money for Breast Cancer as part of the company’s commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles on the Maltese Islands.
Staff across all of GlobalCapital plc’s subsidiaries GlobalCapital Life Insurance Limited, GlobalCapital Health Insurance Agency Limited, GlobalCapital Insurance Brokers Limited and GlobalCapital Financial Management Limited were informed about the launch of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and invited to be a part of Breast Cancer Campaign’s fundraising on Friday, October 26, wearing pink as a mark of respect, as well as having a cupcake bake sale, with all proceeds going to this worthy charity.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer amongst women worldwide, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. It is also the principle cause of death from cancer among women globally. Despite the high incidence rates, in Western countries, 89% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are still alive 5 years after their diagnosis. This is due to fast detection and advanced treatment. Bupa, part of GlobalCapital’s portfolio, provides information and resources about different types of cancer, treatment options and advice on coping with cancer. With a few details about lifestyle and 10 minutes filling out the assessment, Bupa’s free breast cancer risk assessment can help women to understand their personal level of risk of breast cancer. The free breast cancer assessment is available at https://www.bupa.co.uk/individuals/health-information/tools-calculators/...
Fast detection is key in the survival chance of a breast cancer patient. Dramatically, one third of all breath cancer deaths could be decreased by fast detection and early treatment. Knowing the risk factors of breast cancer, women can take positive steps to reduce their risk if necessary. A woman’s risk of breast cancer increases as she gets older but there are lifestyle risk factors about which she may be unaware. Bupa’s website contains helpful information and covers topics such as symptoms, causes, diagnosis, treatment and the benefits of exercise. An entire section of the website is very usefully devoted to prevention of breast cancer.
GlobalCapital CEO Bashar Khatib congratulated the high-level of staff participation in the fund-raiser for Breast Cancer saying, “So many women you know may have had breast cancer — friends and neighbours, co-workers, even a relative or spouse. It seems as if every time you turn around, breast cancer is being talked about in the media. Well this time we’re talking about it to raise awareness and funds which can be used to combat it. I am very proud of our efforts today. On a day like this you get a glimpse into the internal workings of a company and it is insightful. There are so many aspects to Breast Cancer and working alongside a charity is so rewarding. I am glad so many of our people were able to help out with this worthy cause.”
