In a reaction to reports which appeared in the local media the Secretariat for the Elderly and Community Care has denied all allegations made regarding the Zejtun home for the elderly.

The Secretariat held that in the last budget the Government announced that the number of beds in homes for the elderly will be increased, including at the Zejtun home.

In-home facilities have also been increased with a nurse available round the clock, the building of a kitchenette for relatives, new lounge areas and more dining rooms on every floor.

The statement concluded that the elderly have always been a priority for the PN government and that the total number of beds in homes for the elderly has been increased by 1000.
