1,790 patients for nerve test, 1 part-time technician employed
A total of 1,790 patients have been waiting for up to two years for an electromyogram test (EMG), or nerve test, but only one technician is employed and works on a part-time basis.
This information was provided by the Minister for Health, Dr Godfrey Farrugia in reply to a question by Opposition MP, Claudio Grech. The Minister also said that 454 patients have been waiting for up to six months, 382 between six months and one year, while 954 have been waiting for more than a year.
The Minister said that efforts are being made to employ more technicians.
The electromyogram test measures the electrical activity of muscles.
