2013 MGSS-PG Scheme launched
Minister for Education and Employment Evarist Bartolo said that scholarships for doctoral level are an important pillar for the continuation of an individual’s education. Minister Bartolo said that this scheme complemented the Master It scheme launched in April. Funding for this scheme is €22,000 per annum for full-time students, while part-time students are provided with €25,000 for the duration of the whole course.
Parliamentary Secretary for Innovation, Research, Youth and Sport, Stefan Buontempo, said that individuals who continue their studies give a boost to the country’s economy.
MGSS-PG is a highly competitive scholarship scheme. Last year, 117 applications were submitted for Doctoral degrees. 29 applicants (25%) were awarded a Doctoral scholarship. 148 applications were submitted for Masters Degrees. 34 (23%) were awarded a Masters Scholarships.
The MGSS-PG 2013 scheme has to be seen within the context of the other scholarship scheme launched on April 30 that is “Master it!” The latter is co-financed and there is €2 million to finance the 2013 call.
