300 to 600 thousand Libyans searching for a better future
The Libyan Navy stopped two boats which were on their way to Europe and with 218 immigrants on board from various African countries.
According to the Libyan news agency Lana, there were 118 people on a boat and 100 people on the other. Last Monday, another boat was stopped after it was found in the shore of Tripoli, carrying 175 Africans.
The Italian Minister Angelino Alfano stated that between 300 and 600 thousand people in Libya are willing to leave to find a better future in another European country, this was also confirmed by European Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom.
This week alone, Italy has saved around 4,000 people from boats.
