A 78-year-old man was seriously injured when he was involved in a head-on collision in Triq Ghar Dalam, Birzebbugia this morning.

The impact of the collision was such that the two drivers involved had to be cut out of their vehicles by members of the police and the Civil Protection Department.

The road was closed for a while and the police redirected the traffic to alternative routes.

The men are undergoing treatment for their injuries at Mater Dei Hospital.

Police investigations continue.
