98.67 tons of used batteries collected since 2010
A total of 98.67 tons of used batteries were collected between 2010 and August 2013. The batteries were collected from shops, local councils and other entities.
A further 283.5 tons were collected at WasteServ’s bring in sites during the same period.
The Minister for Environment, Leo Brincat, said that a campaign for the collection of used batteries in schools yielded 32,000 kilogrammes. The Battery Buster campaign is still ongoing during the current scholastic year.
