AD applaud recognition of ME and FM as chronic diseases
Alternattiva Demokratika has welcomed the recognition of ME and FM as chronic diseases.
Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said: "Alternattiva Demokratika has always insisted that people living with Myalgic Emcephalomyelitis (ME) and Fibromyalgia (FM) require state support for early diagnosis and ongoing treatment to address the symptoms provoked by these condition. It is a positive step forward for all those involved including the families of these persons, that the government has finally included these two conditions to the list of recognised chronic diseases."
AD Spokesperson on Disability Issues and Sports, Dr. Claire Azzopardi Lane, said "Furthermore the disabling effect of these two conditions have lead persons living with ME or FM and their families to a financial crisis. Being added to the list of recognised chronic diseases gives them the right to access much needed social benefits."
