City Gate graffiti removed in €4000 operation
The graffiti that was sprayed on the facade of City Gate back on August 29 has been removed by a specialised cleaning team from the public department.
Depicting a boy and a girl arching their arms forming a heart, the graffiti caused mixed reactions as some lauded the art while others criticised the ‘vandalism’ on the €80 million project of the regeneration of Valletta.
The perpetrator was spotted spraying the graffiti by a police patrol at about 04:00h and has yet to be identified. Upon spotting the suspect, the police chased him on foot through Republic Street but several patrols around the city bore no results.
CEO of the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation Chris Paris previously held that the removal would cost €4,000 as a specific type of cherry picker was to be used.
