Condition of hold-up victim improves
The condition of the man who was hit in the face by a hooded and armed men during an attempted hold-up in the area between has taken a turn for the better and he is no longer in danger of losing his life, the police said.
The 77-year-old man from Qormi was previously in a critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound in a failed hold up yesterday.
Accompanied by a 64 year old man from Marsa, the victim’s Renault Megane was blocked by the aggressors’ white Peugeot 308. Sporting balaclavas, a shotgun and a knife, the aggressors demanded cash from the elderly man but upon resisting, the Qormi was shot through the windscreen while his companion suffered a knife wound.
The white Peugeot was found yesterday afternoon behind the Adolarata Cemetery in Gudja. It was discovered as being stolen and its number plates did not match its registration.
The aggressors, however, are still on the run.
Police have said that the 64-year-old passenger is assisting them in their investigations while his companion is still in hospital being treated for his injuries.
No cash is believed to have been stolen in the failed hold up.
Investigations are ongoing and the police have confirmed that several people are assisting investigators.
