Dr Borg: additional €2m for Gozo employment aid
An additional €2 million will be allocated to the Employment Aid Programme for Gozo in order to overcome the challenges within its employment sector. Around 300 people are expected to benefit from the scheme.
This was announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for the EU Presidency 2017 and EU funds, Dr Ian Borg, during a visit to the offices of the Employment and Training Corporation in Hal Far. During the visit he talked about the schemes and initiatives taken by the corporation through EU funds.
The new scheme for Gozo will be launched this month and will remain opened until the end of this year. Around three hundred individuals are expected to benefit from these additional €2 million.
The Parliamentary Secretary said that this allocation continues to confirm that this government is committed to make the best use of EU funds by helping entrepreneurs in the creation of new job opportunities.
The Employment Aid Programme gives the required assistance to employers in the creation of more job opportunities for people who in one way or another are in a disadvantage compared to the rest of the society.
